The EcoRise Fest: A Climate Action Festival in Vancouver

The Sustainable Act is pleased to share its official partnership with EcoRise presented by Dreamstill and Ritmos Climáticos.

The EcoRise Fest is a transformative climate action event, set to take place on October 5th, 2024, from 1 PM to 6 PM at Granville and 14th Plaza in so-called Vancouver.

Spearheaded by youth-led organizations Dreamstill and Ritmos Climáticos, this festival aligns with Vancouver’s Climate Emergency Action Plan and Zero Waste 2040 initiatives, while creating an inclusive space for underrepresented communities to engage in climate action.

Advancing Climate Action and Inclusivity

The EcoRise Fest is more than just an event—it's a platform to drive substantial environmental, economic, and social change. It brings together a diverse array of voices, with a special emphasis on empowering BIPOC members and organizers who have been historically excluded from climate spaces. Attendees will be able to participate in hands-on workshops, panel discussions, and artistic experiences that underscore the festival’s mission of promoting sustainability and climate justice.

Key facilitators and panelists such as Nika Moeini of Youth Climate Save, Caroline and Aloïs Gallet from Econova Education, and Sayemin Naheen from Solastalgia will lead discussions and activities on the intersections of climate and social justice. These engaging conversations will explore solutions that are scalable and actionable, focusing on stakeholder collaboration as the key to driving meaningful change.

Activities to Empower and Inspire

EcoRise Fest will offer a rich variety of activities designed to foster community engagement and inspire individual action. Attendees can take part in a collaborative art project, mending workshops, group meditation, a $10 vintage clothing fill-a-bag sale. These activities aim to create "climate optimism" by demonstrating that sustainable, affordable lifestyles are attainable.

Participants can also enjoy performances from local musicians such as KeAloha organized by Rhythm Ensemble, while immersive art installations and photobooths by Anna of Moonlit Photobooth and Shaq from Make Memories provide a way to immortalize the moment.

Collaborative Efforts for a Greater Impact

In collaboration with various local climate-forward organizations including MugShare, The Sustainable Act and other grassroot organizations, EcoRise Fest builds on Vancouver’s Culture Shift Plan to blanket the city in arts and culture. Together with these stakeholders, EcoRise Fest will offer practical tools and foster solidarity in the face of climate challenges, inspiring attendees to take part in actionable solutions.

Join Us in Making Climate Progress

EcoRise Fest invites the Vancouver community to come together for a day of learning, connection, and celebration. Whether through artistic expression, hands-on sustainability activities, or in-depth panel discussions, the festival promises to provide something for everyone to deepen their understanding of climate justice and to be part of a movement for a sustainable future.
